Telecom analytics solutions provider Mobileum Inc has announced the preliminary results of its GlobalRoamer Testing and Monitoring campaigns conducted for UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany and Paris Olympics Games 2024 in France.

Mobileum’s GlobalRoamer is the world’s largest end-to-end roaming active testing footprint, covering 98% of the globe and endorsing 5G, LTE, IoT, VoLTE, CSFB, 3G/2G, and emergency services. Ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024 and Paris Olympics Games 2024 and during both events, global service providers have the opportunity to assess their network readiness and performance in each event, and make any adjustments required to ensure the best user experience.

During the UEFA Euro 2024, Mobileum GlobalRoamer:

  • Identified network degradation and the impact of radio resource congestion due to user concentration. Considering the average of 80Mbps download speed, Leipzig showed a significant drop of 40% during the game Portugal x Czech Republic on 18 June 2024.
  • Determined the quality of service (QoS) and network performance per city, including comparison between 4G and 5G, depending on Radio Access Network deployments. 5G samples showed the highest speed ranges above 50Mbps, while a user under 4G had less than a 50% chance of having a very good experience with the worst speed ranges.
  • Produced evidence that 5G NSA offers significantly superior data experience when compared to 4G. In Hamburg, the average 5G_NSA download speed was 182,66 Mbps, while 4G registered an average of 25,82 Mbps.
  • Offered key insights for decision-making on Steering Policies per city to support quality of experience (QoE) strategies, particularly relevant for VIP customers. In Dortmund, the performance benchmarks indicated that the top network displayed download rates near 200 Mbps, while the bottom performer showed maximum download rates of only 50 Mbps. Such figures support roaming policy decisions according to city performance.

In addition to these findings, GlobalRoamer provided insights that enabled service providers to evaluate the quality of essential services and networks, detect issues and failures, benchmark roaming providers, apply steering policies, and proactively manage partnerships.

“Both of these events have millions of supporters converging on stadiums and sporting grounds to cheer on their nations. We knew this would put enormous pressure on mobile network providers to deliver the best quality of experience for their roaming customers. Mobileum’s GlobalRoamer packages were designed to help service providers get comprehensive data about network and roaming partners’ performance before and during the Eurocup and the Olympics so that they can make the necessary adjustments and ensure high customer satisfaction,” said Bernardo Lucas, Mobileum CMO.

Mobileum’s GlobalRoamer offers testing and monitoring for 5G roaming, VoLTE roaming, eSIM and remote SIM provisioning, emergency services, global IoT connectivity and international carrier quality. It generates real mobile international traffic by virtualizing any SIM and eSIM to any location in the world, using Mobileum’s SIM card pool with over 500+ operators.
