Back TÜV Rheinland and SID China launch expert working groups for sustainability and testing in display industry

TÜV Rheinland Greater China and the Society for Information Display China (SID China) have jointly initiated the formation of two expert working groups: Display Industry Carbon Emission Analysis and Calculation Methodology Working Group; and Independent Third-Party Testing Laboratory Working Group.

Earlier this year, TÜV Rheinland and SID China established a strategic partnership. The joint launch of these sustainability and testing-related working groups aims to bring together industry experts to advance fundamental research and technical exchange, providing targeted solutions for the display industry's development and guiding the industry towards scientific, standardized, and green growth.

The Display Industry Carbon Emission Analysis and Calculation Methodology Working Group will establish a comprehensive and systematic methodology for carbon emission analysis and calculation, helping the industry chain effectively reduce carbon emissions, thereby promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of the global display industry and achieving sustainable development.

The carbon emissions of the display industry chain involve multiple stages, including raw materials and equipment, display panels, production and manufacturing of end products, transportation logistics and warehousing, and disposal of products after use.

The working group will bring together experts in carbon emission calculation, environmental science, materials, equipment, display technology, display panel production and operation, and display production plant construction and maintenance. Through literature review and data analysis, they will establish carbon emission calculation methods and models, data sampling analysis, and testing systems for the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the display industry chain. Additionally, the group will collaborate with companies across the industry chain to explore emission reduction solutions. The research results will be compiled into a white paper; the working group will also participate in formulating relevant industry standards and support their implementation and promotion to enhance the overall low-carbon and environmental protection level of the industry.

The Independent Third-Party Testing Laboratory Working Group aims to establish a fair and transparent testing system to scientifically evaluate and verify product quality and performance, promoting technological progress and healthy development in the display industry.

The working group members include experts in display technology, human factors engineering, and visual health. They will conduct human factors and visual health and display quality testing, establish related testing and certification systems to enhance product recognition. The working group will also participate in drafting industry standards and writing white papers, promoting the transformation and application of relevant test results, thereby improving the overall product quality and performance level of the industry.
