Back UL Solutions, Siemens partner on smart building assessments through SPIRE program
UL Solutions is collaborating with Siemens through the SPIRE qualification program that expands access to expert resources and helps the smart building industry meet the rising demand for building assessments.
Through the SPIRE qualification program, Siemens assessors will perform a SPIRE Smart Building Assessment and submit findings for independent review by UL Solutions. When an evaluation demonstrates that a building meets specific criteria, UL Solutions will issue a UL Verified Mark and SPIRE Smart Building Rating, signifying that the building earned a UL Marketing Claim Verification. UL Solutions will train Siemens’ assessors to conduct SPIRE Smart Building Assessments, helping expand access to expert resources for companies in the smart building industry.
“The demand for smart building assessments is being driven by building owners and managers seeking new ways to improve buildings and attract people back to them,” said Sudhi Sinha, vice president of Global and Strategic Accounts at UL Solutions. “Siemens is collaborating with UL Solutions to gain deeper insights into Siemens customers’ facilities and buildings. By focusing on the SPIRE program’s key categories regarding a building’s operational performance, technology and systems, Siemens can identify opportunities to address its customers’ needs to help improve performance and return on investment.”
“The SPIRE program empowers our customers to unlock new possibilities and shape the future of their facilities,” said Dave Hopping, global CEO of smart infrastructure solutions and services at Siemens. “By using the SPIRE framework, we are pioneering a pathway for our customers not just to meet industry standards but to surpass them, driving unparalleled performance and value in their smart building journey.”
The SPIRE qualification program is part of the SPIRE Smart Buildings program, an objective assessment and rating program for smart buildings created in a partnership between the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and UL Solutions. The program focuses on six key categories: power and energy, health and well-being, life and property safety, connectivity, cybersecurity and sustainability. The SPIRE Smart Building Assessment, part of the SPIRE program, is an evaluation for smart buildings, resulting in an overall UL Verified SPIRE Smart Building Rating and a road map for recommended performance improvements.
